Eurovision Union Awards 2020: Winners Reveal (Part 1)

It has been another fantastic year of new music from Eurovision and National Final stars, and our Eurovision Union Awards celebrates the best new music of the year with the help of you, the fans! Over the past few weeks, you have been able to vote in 13 categories, and now it’s time to reveal the winners! In Part 1, we will reveal the first six winners, and in Part 2, we will reveal the remaining winners. Thank you to everyone who voted, and without further ado, here are the winners!

Best Collaboration

As the title would suggest, this category is dedicated to Eurovision and National Final artists who have collaborated with another artist. Some of the nominated entries featured collaboration with two Eurovision artists, while others collaborated with artists outside the realm of Eurovision. The voting was close in this category, with the winner being former French Eurovision representatives Madame Monsieur and Amir with the song Pas besoin de mots.

Finishing in second was Roxen and Alexander Rybak with the song Wonderland, and in third was Kiss The Ring by JOWST and JÆGER.

Best Follow Up Single

This category features Eurovision 2020 artists, and the songs they released post-Eurovision (or what would have been, had it gone ahead!). There were some real gems in this category, but the people have spoken, and it’s VICTORIA who takes the top spot in this category with her song alright. VICTORIA was one of the hot favourites to take out Eurovision this year, and she has cemented her place as a fan favourite with this win!

Finishing in second was UK representative James Newman with his single Enough, and in third was fan favourite artist DaĂ°i Freyr and his song, Where We Wanna Be.

Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist

This is one of our smallest categories, but with some of our favourite artists. There was a strong Italian presence in this category, with former Italian Eurovision representative Mahmood, and former Sanremo acts, Rancore and Anastasio. In the mix was Czech representative, Benny Cristo, who genre hops, but has released some great tunes in the last year within the genre. Who See and Jala Brat round out the category, representing the Balkans. Taking out the top spot was Mahmood, with a strong vote behind him. With some of the best new releases this year, we think it’s a much-deserved win!

Coming in second place was Rancore, followed by Anastasio.

Best Alternative Act

This category goes out to the artists that don’t quite fit the mould. They have their own individual style that deserves to be celebrated. None of the artists in this category are alike, and that’s what’s so great about this category. With such a range, it is difficult to select just one favourite, but the fans have spoken! Finishing on top this year was LoĂ¯c Nottet, who had a great year, releasing his second studio album, Sillygomania.

Finishing in second place is Swedish superstar, Loreen, and in third was Eurovision 2020 fan favourite, DaĂ°i Freyr.

Best Pop Act

Many Eurovision and National Final artists fall into the pop category, which made it incredibly difficult to select the nominees this year. These are the artists that stood out to us this year, whether they released a single, or an album! Despite the difficulty in selecting the nominees, the decision of the fans was clear – Duncan Laurence is the Best Pop Act of 2020!

The runner up of this category was Amir, followed by Benjamin Ingrosso and Viki Gabor, who tied for third place!

Best Music Video

There are so many different reasons to love a music video. There are the music videos that tell a story, those that make you laugh, and those that are totally nonsensical. A music video can really elevate a song, and that’s what we saw with our nominees this year. It was a very close vote in this category, but VICTORIA is taking out her second Eurovision Union Awards win for her Eurovision song, Tears Getting Sober.

Finishing in second was DaĂ°i & GagnamagniĂ° with Think About Things, followed by Afera by Viki Gabor.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our Winners Reveal!
